3 Questions To Ask Your Dentist

At Fuller Dental, we prioritize educating our patients on how to take good care of their smiles for many years to come. This is why we encourage each patient to come prepared to ask questions at their routine dental appointments. Many people only see their dentist twice a year for routine dental care. During these preventative care appointments, don’t be afraid to have open and honest conversations with our staff about your dental health. If you’re unsure of what to ask at your dental appointment, consider asking one of these three questions:

How can I improve my oral hygiene?

During your routine preventative care appointments, you will receive a thorough dental cleaning from one of our amazing hygienists. Your hygienist will be removing any plaque and tartar buildup on your teeth or surrounding your gums. Based on how much buildup there is, they will be able to get a good idea of which areas of your mouth you’ve been missing when you brush or floss. Ask your hygienist how you can improve your at-home oral hygiene routine. They can offer advice on where to brush and floss more thoroughly based on their observations during your cleaning. Additionally, they can answer any questions you may have about oral hygiene like how to use an electronic toothbrush, different flossing techniques, or what ingredients to look for in dental products.

What are the treatment options for my dental concerns?

Your biannual appointments with your dentist are a great opportunity for you to address your dental concerns. If you’ve experienced any pain or discomfort outside of the dentist’s office, you should let them know. Mention to your dentist if you’ve dealt with symptoms like bleeding gums, bad breath, increased sensitivity, jaw pain, or frequent toothaches. It’s important to let them know about your symptoms even if they are not occurring during your appointment. Your dentist will take all of that into consideration, as well as their finding from your dental exam, to create a treatment plan designed specifically for your needs.

What are your cosmetic dentistry recommendations?

If you are unhappy with the current aesthetics of your smile, mention this to your dentist. They will be able to offer elective cosmetic services that can help you address your cosmetic concerns and achieve a smile makeover. At our Burlington, NC dentist office, we offer a wide range of dental services to meet the needs of all of our patients. If you are looking for a cosmetic dentist, we are happy to offer a smile consultation for services like porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, Invisalign, dental bonding, and more. Give us a call today, or schedule your consultation online. We look forward to answering any questions you have about your dental health.
