Fixing Your Discolored Teeth

Discolored teeth can make you insecure and make you want to hide your smile. But you should have a brilliant smile that you’re not afraid to show off. At Fuller Dental, a cosmetic dentist in Burlington, NC, we offer multiple methods to give you a whiter smile.cosmetic dentist in burlington, north carolina

Traditional Teeth Whitening

Traditional teeth whitening services are the most common way to get a whiter smile. Professional whitening makes for a much more even and brighter whitening compared to over the counter offerings. It’s also designed to make sure that the bleaching agents don’t cause damage to the gums or soft tissue.

We offer both in-office and take-home teeth whitening at Fuller Dental. In-office teeth whitening can be done in about an hour, for a smile that’s up to eight shades whiter. We brush a protective gel on your gums before applying a light-activated whitening gel to your teeth. It’s then activated with a special light that whitens your smile quickly. For touchups, we’ll still provide you with an at-home whitening kit.

At-home teeth whitening is a more gradual process and costs less to do. Impressions will be taken of your teeth so we can provide you with customized whitening trays. This helps ensure your smile is covered easily and the sensitive areas aren’t impacted. You’ll wear these for 30-60 minutes a day, twice a day. Results appear in a few weeks. The dentist can advise on how many weeks you should do whitening treatments to get your desired shade.

Porcelain Veneers

For certain stains, such as white spots caused by medications, traditional teeth whitening isn’t enough. Porcelain veneers can provide a solution. Made of thin shells of dental ceramic, porcelain veneers cover the front and sides of your teeth. They’re made to be durable and last a long time. They’re also designed to be stain-resistant, making them hold up better than natural teeth if you’re a coffee drinker or smoker.

The dental ceramic used can be color-matched to the rest of your smile, or you can choose whatever shade of white you’d like. These can be applied to your entire smile or just the teeth that you think are impacted the most with staining. We can also do traditional whitening for some teeth and porcelain veneers to match those that the treatment can’t fully take care of.

Dental Bonding

For a quick and cost-efficient way to a whiter smile, dental bonding is a solid option. A composite material is painted over the surface of the tooth, and then hardened and polished to blend in with your natural teeth. The material can be shaded to whatever color you’d like. This is another method that can be done only on certain teeth or on the full smile.

Dental Crowns

Similar to porcelain veneers, dental crowns can cover teeth that are resistant to traditional teeth whitening. Crowns are both stain and decay resistant and designed to be a solution that lasts for years. A dental crown is custom-made to the shape, size, and shade you desire, and fits over your entire tooth. If you have issues with your teeth being weak or worn down, a crown can also make them more durable and give you full function back.
